Marum Volcano, Ambrym,  at night, from Hunters Camp a few days ago before weather hell started up here

Here we go again,  the entire summit camp is packed down in cyclone force winds in preparation for a week of terrible weather....   19-02-17

If things fall silent up here soon it will be because Wrights Satellite Connections Limited in New Zealand have disconnected our satellite services .....

if you are contemplating buying a sat phone,  don't buy it from Wrights,  they may cut your sat phone off while you are in the middle of the ocean !

We have put a camp and generator etc high up the mountain so we can hopefully somewhat remain in communication with cellphone data and e mail when the weather allows us to get up there.

Weather chaos walking down from the summit  19-07

Slippery when wet .... bashed and bruised in the creek leading off the mountain

The creek is in flood again at Hunters Camp ....

Hunters Camp , above Ranvetlam Village,  Ambrym Island, Vanuatu, several weeks ago,  Chris Horsley and I only just got the camp secure when all hell broke loose,

we had a severe thunderstorm right overhead,  lightning within 200 metres of us for an hour,

and a flash flood in a creek bed I ve never seen water in before.

= water shortage,  solved !

RIP Phil Cotter  "shags"  who died on Friday 26 August 2011 when his helicopter crashed while working on Malakula Island in Vanuatu. Phil has

been involved in every expedition we have made to Vanuatu for the last 14 years and was a truly brilliant pilot. His loss is greatly missed.
